Words from the Allsherjargoði

Thank you to our amazing leadership at Óðinshof and to all of you who traveled far and wide to make Miðsumar such a spectacular success!

Focusing on our 30th anniversary has had me very contemplative of things; where we came from, where we are, and our plans for a glorious future. I remember my first AFA event that I had the honour of attending, Miðsumar 2010 in Alta, California. It is amazing to see how far we have come. In the 15 years since that event, we transcended being a West Coast organization and have expanded our membership across the United States. At present, the majority of our members are east of the Mississippi! We have gone from wandering to and from rented camps and member's backyards to 4 glorious Hofs to our Æsir. Now more than ever, our Folk have come home to our native faith and those who have come home take our faith more seriously than ever in modern times. We are blessed! We are waxing! We are winning!

I have seen a stark contrast as of late between those willing to live real lives and those who prefer to be stuck in the world of theory or "what if?" It is very easy to get comfortable dreaming and debating about how life should be "someday." It is much easier to enumerate all the ways the doers should do things differently or better than it is to venture outside of our comfort zones and participate in life. Resist the defeatism, resist the nihilism, resist the cope. Join your brothers and sisters out here in the sunlight, living our faith, moving the ball forward, building our reputation, and glorifying the mighty Æsir.

Today is the day. The time is now. Shape your destiny. Build your fame.
