Vör is the “Careful One”. She sees what others overlook.
Details matter and small things can have great
importance, Vör takes notice. Vör is the patroness of intuition and foresight.
As I have started building a relationship with Vör, this is how I see her. She is full of knowledge and insight. Awareness. Let's talk about awareness. Awareness certainly is based on information and knowledge but goes beyond that into experience and intuition. The ability to understand knowledge with these gifts. Something that I have learned in one of Gyðja Anna's rune studies is how well Vör goes with Raidho to Kenaz, lighting the path before us. This awareness is a reminder that truth begins long before words are spoken. It only needs us to bare witness. Vör reminds us that true wisdom is not the gaining of facts but the ability to see clearly, honestly; without distortion even when it is uncomfortable. I find that this comes to light most often in stillness. In the silence, awareness comes about and what remains is the reality that was always there. Awareness is a responsibility, but it brings about a wholeness in courage and growth.
The virtue of truth is consistently speaking and acting in accordance with reality. Valuing honesty and integrity and avoiding deception and falsehoods. Truth is what it is and is not changeable. Truth is a core value that is the most basic element of conforming to reality. In today’s world, there is a high value on not offending anyone. If you don’t have an honest assessment where you are and how reality is, you can’t change your circumstances or change yourself unless you have an accurate gauge of where you currently are and where you want to go. Every day we are so saturated by a constant flow of information. Bits and pieces of facts mixed with opinions and narratives depending on the mindset of the teller. It's easy to get caught up in it and become disillusioned. Truth is standing firmly and unapologetically on the side of facts and faith.
I connect best with Vör in stillness. Quieting my mind. Finding my heartbeat, the same heartbeat that beats through my line of Ancestors back to the beginning. I visualize a wall around myself, my family, and the Folk of the Innangarðr. I ask to see and understand.
