Description
We are appealing to our members on behalf of Gothi Thorgrun Odden and his wife Katie, who have run into financial hardships since moving to their trailer at Óðinshof just before Yule. Due to an incapacitating illness, they asked the AFA Folk Services to help them with this crisis. If you can, please donate to the Folk Services Donation account to replenish the fund.
For many weeks before Yule, the Oddens were burdened with the move from Penn Valley to Brownsville. The stress and physical exertions contributed to a health crisis that took Gothi Thorgrun to the ER on February 9th. He was admitted for a heart condition, but after two weeks, he explained he needed to get home to Katie who was waiting alone at the trailer. With an imminent snowstorm due in Brownsville, the best course for them and their dog was to head to a lower elevation and continue his recuperation at a hotel. He has continued to improve this past week due to a change of diet, exercise, and new medication. As of yesterday, they returned to their trailer at Óðinshof, but the hotel stay and their food were beyond their current means. The AFA stepped in to help these good folks who were part of the founding of the Asatru Folk Assembly in the early 1990s. Gothi Thorgrun and Katie were also heavily involved in the work to dedicate Newgrange Hall (which became Óðinshof a few years later). Few have shown as much loyalty to the AFA as Gothi Odden and his wife.In the best traditions of the AFA, your donations to Folk Services will ensure that we can always help our brothers and sisters in need.
